Dr. David Roahen’s journey to endodontics is rooted in both family tradition and a passion for helping others. A second-generation dentist, he brings a rare blend of diverse experience—from practicing in underserved Boston communities to training under one of the nation’s leading endodontic mentors. With advanced clinical expertise, a patient-first philosophy, and a genuine love for the coastal community he now calls home, Dr. Roahen is proud to bring Surf City Endodontics to Pender County, where precision care meets compassion.
After earning his DMD from Boston University in 2014, Dr. Roahen carried that same energy and focus into every patient encounter whether he was practicing in a busy city clinic or a small community setting. He went on to complete his Endodontic Certificate at the University of Maryland in 2022, further sharpening his expertise and commitment to patient care.
Today, as the founder of Surf City Endodontics, he combines clinical precision with a down-to-earth approach, creating an environment where patients feel comfortable, cared for, and confident in their treatment.
When he’s not in the office, you’ll likely find Dr. Roahen exploring the North Carolina coast with his wife Jaime and their two young children, chasing waves as he learns to surf, or cheering on his favorite football teams — Go Navy and Green Bay Packers! Life at home also includes a rotating cast of family pets, adding to the lively mix that makes Wilmington’s Historic District feel like home.
Dr. David Roahen’s path to endodontics has been anything but linear — and that’s exactly what gives him a unique perspective on patient care. Before pursuing dentistry, he played collegiate football at Dickinson College while earning his degree in Biology, then spent four years in the fast-paced world of tech sales in New York City. That experience outside of healthcare sharpened his communication skills and taught him the importance of building trust, qualities that now define the way he connects with patients in the dental chair.
